‘Misleading’ road signs damaging businesses on Lindfield High Street.
South East Water has closed the section of the road at the top of the High Street between All Saints Church and Park Lane for approximately three months to install a new drinking main, but business owners are complaining that temporary road signs suggest access is much more difficult than it is.
Paul Wittering, joint owner of Fika Village Tea Room on Lindfield High Street, said: “It’s a joke, you put about five or six road signs up and people start turning away.
“The footfall has dropped by about 60 or 70 percent.
“We’re suffering, and it’s not just us.”

Hide AdBecca Belfield, store manager of boutique card and gift shop Swalk on Lindfield High Street agreed, adding: “It’s been horrible, really tough.
“The signs seem rather extreme.
“I’ve never seen so many.
“They are putting a lot of customers off.”
