New guide to find out West Sussex's most trusted traders

The latest Buy With Confidence directory lists around 450 Trading Standards approved businesses. The guide can be picked up from libraries, help points, doctors and dentist surgery waiting areas, B&Q in Crawley and Shoreham, Travis Perkins in Horsham, Homebase in Chichester, and Screwfix in both Chichester and Horsham. David Barling, West Sussex County Council’s cabinet member for residents’ services, said: “Buy with Confidence is a scheme which is not only beneficial to businesses and consumers in West Sussex, but which is becoming increasingly available across the UK.” Each business in the guide has been vetted by Trading Standards to ensure consumers are protected. Businesses are regularly monitored by Trading Standards officers to ensure high standards of trust, quality and customer service are maintained. Mr Barling: “Residents can use the directory to find details of businesses which they know they can trust.” Buy With Confidence members receive fewer complaints on average and can offer customers peace of mind when choosing a trader. Gill Mitchell, Brighton & Hove City Council’s environment committee chair, said: “Buy with Confidence offers consumers greater peace of mind, and allows local businesses to advertise their services in the directory. “It is a scheme which has been running for a number of years and which is highly valued by businesses and residents.” Buy With Confidence is open to all businesses, from one person operations to major employers. The new guide is expected to reach up to 15,000 people. Both the West Sussex and Brighton and Hove Buy With Confidence directory can also be found online.
