South East devolution: Mid Sussex District Council leader’s response
If it goes ahead, the change would mean more powers and responsibilities for local authorities in the region.
West Sussex County Council is arguing that this will make it easier to co-ordinate services for residents, improving the economy, and attracting more investment.

Hide AdIt could also mean that local authorities would have to take on more responsibilities for road and rail infrastructure, health and social care, and employment.
Approached for a comment, Mid Sussex District Council leader Garry Wall said: “We are following the national debate on devolution with interest. However, we will need to very carefully consider the details of any proposals before we lend them our support.”
