The 17-year-old from Bexhill also clinched the county pairs just a fortnight after taking the county singles title. Robertson secured his third Eastbourne crown in a row at the Fisherman's Club after a 4-1 success over local player Dave Coppen, who was making his open final debut. Although firm favourite to clinch the title, Robertson lost the opening frame on the colours before getting into his stride by rattling in breaks of 48 and 68 for a 2-1 lead. This was followed by amazing back-to-back centuries of 113 and 104 to make sure of championship glory. In the previous round, two of the best players in Sussex locked horns with Robertson up against friend and fellow professional 22-year-old Mathew Barnes from Newhaven. Robertson won the opening two frames but the three-times county champion hit back to level before the young Bexhillian kept his cool with a brilliant break of 101 in the decider for a 3-2 win. Three days later Robertson and Barnes paired up to claim the county doubles title at Brighton, defeating the pairings of Rodney Morgan and John Hughes 3-0, Richard Barrett and Peter Rae 3-0, and Russell Hughes and Curtis Lambert 4-1 in the final. With local competition now complete for the season Robertson will be hoping to extend his winning run on the professional circuit next month when he competes in the final challenge tour event of the season at Prestatyn, North Wales. A sequence of five wins in this event may be enough to claim a top 16 spot and place again on the main professional tour for next season. Robertson is backed by O'Sullivan's and the Q-Ball.
