MOTORISTS being delayed in Felpham have three weeks to go before the new relief road opens.

The section between the A259 at Flansham and the A259 in Shripney will be opened on March 4. Drivers will be able to use it from that afternoon and enjoy reduced journey times.

It is hoped this will further drive economic growth by improving transport connections.

The £28m road includes the area’s only viaduct which takes the single carriageway route over the Lidsey Rife and railway line to Bognor.

It has been built by Barratt Homes as part of its development of nearly 800 homes in Felpham.

Tim Hill, the managing director at Barratt Southampton, said the new road would make a big difference to drivers in the area.

“The scheme is part of a package of community infrastructure commitments given by Barratt to support our scheme at Blake’s Mead in Felpham.
