Tributes have been paid to a former parish councillor who died in November last year after suffering with a long illness.

Jim Noble served for a brief spell on Pulborough Parish Council and was described by a former colleague as ‘extremely articulate’ and ‘helpful’ man.

Chairman of Pulborough Parish Council Ray Quested, who worked alongside Mr Noble, said: “Before being appointed chairman of the parish council I did serve for a brief time with Jim as a fellow councillor.

“Although I knew him only through our parish dealings, I always found him extremely articulate and forthright in his opinions.

“He was not one to suffer fools gladly nor enter into a long diatribe where one sentence would suffice.

“After leaving the council in 2008 he was extremely helpful to our parish clerk, Sarah Norman, in setting up and maintaining the parish council website.

“This was something that he did with the minimum of fuss and publicity which was typical of Jim and for which the council will always be grateful.
