Joe Boyce, president of Whyke United FC, was recognised for his hard work and effort by the Sussex FA after 30 years of volunteer work with the club.
Ken Benham and Nigel Williams from county FA visited the club’s fun day at Kingsham Primary School to surprise Joe with a presentation of an engraved drinks decanter.

Benham talked about how often people like Joe went unrecognised and what a pleasure it was to give the award to someone who had given so much to Sussex football and his club.

Shocked Joe thanked everyone he had worked with over the years and said he was touched by the presentation.

Benham and Williams also discussed the FA’s Respect programme, which is out to promote positive attitudes and fair play.
